personal profoundness

sometimes when i get husseling and busseling about in a day,
and i forget to make time for anything,
and my moods are more then likely on the negative side,

a moment comes to my mind.

I was walking past the super market in China. I was alone, and enjoying my leisurely walk amongst the people of my city.

it wasn't anything spectacular. & it wasn't anything worth remembering.

but i'll never forget it.

this moment where I said to myself,

"You know, I am happy."

I have so very few moments like that. I don't know exactly why. Perhaps it's my deep self loathing, or my attitude towards anything "regular" life may offer. Perhaps it's from living within the walls of my own head for far too long...who truly knows.

but because of this inability to remain happy, moments like this i treasure deeply.

personal profoundness.

I wish I had more of these.

bippity boppity boo

Sometimes i wish i was or had a fairy god mother. How totally wonderful and awesome would that be? I'd wish for well, world peace of course. & then some more selfish things.. like..

to be able to travel to China and the U.S in the blink of an eye.

to loose the bread weight i've gained in just this past week...

for time to speed up and slow down, so i can be with jeremy longer, and sooner. all at the same time.

to be two inches taller so i can at least be 6 feet. Hey, if you're gonna be tall, why not do it right, right?

for my bangs to grow. dreadful things wont stop tickling my cheeks. ever.

& to be tired when i should be, and wide awake when i should be.

Of course I'll also wish for awesome things like a pool full of noodles, and a dog that could talk... but we don't have much time for silly wishes. (rather, we have all the time in the world. seriously.)

and, that is what i am here to talk about.

how backward, forward, sideways, rotten, & pristine we all are.

Being back in the states has been a true eye opener for me. Spiritually, and in all other forms and matters.

I don't mean to come back to the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave and mock life styles. Or pass judgement on everyone living their own little lives. But I do wonder how far we have let ourselves drift from the true reality of life.

I began this post with talk of a fairy godmother, and sometimes i have to think we aren't too far off from believing in this reality. But not in the white haired, blue dress, chubby cheek kind of reality. But the get-what-you-want-when-you-want-it kind.

the instant-ness of life.

I think we all to often see people working hard with no reward, and others hardly working with all the reward. We see poor judgments and selfish acts being glorified and upheld. We hear music and watch films that are tasteless and flooded with emptiness, and worst of all we often find (or more correctly loose) ourselves drifting from consciousnesses as we go about our daily mindless habits. The ability to have what we want, when we want it; and in any way we want it...has essentially ruined us. Humanity.

though you must understand i don't believe we are ruined forever.

We have forgotten what makes us truly incredible creatures. the ability to dream, the ability to change our circumstances. We have the power to build better futures and lives for all living things around us. We have the power to enjoy and not just endure our existence.

As humans, and especially as Americans, we have the ability to obtain our truest forms. our greatest divine natures. Godliness.

let this be a plea to myself, and all others who feel the same,  to finally say "enough is enough." and mean it. My mind was created for wonderful beautiful things. And i won't allow the drains of publicity, and the thoughts of corrupted, or negative others affect me. and I don't need to concern myself with habits that clog the brain. Whether they be physical or mental. Our minds need to be set free.

if there is one thing living in China has taught me, it's that no matter our circumstance, we can be happy.

less is more.

ramble. ramble.

true beauts.

^^
(could not find one even semi bad picture of this hott mama)

Seriously, so excited to see these gems. I love them all soooooo much!!! :)

Pretty is:

Pretty is: not being able to contain a smile as you watch your first babies ultrasound.

Pretty is: seeing the person you love after being apart.

Pretty is: getting that A you deserve on your big final.

Pretty is: being able to see new life, especially new furry ones.

Pretty is: celebrating the end of an era, and bringing in the new.

Pretty is: having enough confidence to walk with your head high.

Pretty is: having enough humility to say your sorry.

Pretty is: excitement on Christmas eve.

China lately

wowzers. Two Thankful Thursday posts right after each other. I better start doing some more blogging, eh?

Things have been pretty busy around here lately. Well, China busy.

I spend my mornings cleaning the house, and slightly cleaning up myself.. slightly. haha. and then head off to school.

Our final performance for the semester is coming up, and we've been practicing none stop for it! The little ones are so darn cute though, and each day they get a little bit better. Though practice's seem to drag on when their little heads can't stay quiet for more than three seconds. haha :)

After school, life is all about Jacob's Scarves. oh, and the sun. We are now doing a contest with Jacob's Scarves to hopefully generate some more donations and such. It's been working great! We've also ordered our personal tags for each scarf, and our business cards are in the works! It's been so wonderful!

When we're not working on JS's things, you can usually find us enjoying the sun shine, (we get so little of it sometimes!) devouring fruit, watching a movie, or taking a Chinese lesson.

Our favourite lesson thus far is learning how to do traditional Chinese painting! It looks so easy, but is actually sooo hard. But we love it! And (because I know J doesn't read my blog) just between the two of us, I am painting him a landscape picture with his favourite quote on it, in Chinese, for one of his souvineers. :) I am pretty excited. Cross your fingers I won't mess it up too bad! haha

And, that pretty much sums up life lately here in China.

Occasionally we will get random spurts of joy. Such as yesterday some Government officials asked us to perform for our city on the 15th this month. That should be a night to remember! And today Jennie and I made a chocolate cake in our rice cooker. :)

Every moment counts now. And life in China is ending with so much goodness! I have loved every moment. :)

However, I can't lie about how excited I am to see my friends and family, and especially my sweetheart. :)

16  more days to go!

so, i, uh, saw a camel on my way to the grocery store the other day.. yup. it happened.
after performing Lady Gaga again for Childrens Day
Met this kid when we went to see one of our students sister perform. He loved talking to us in English! But it made me miss Sergey SOOOO much!
My little Abby. She is such a cute spaz.
This little guy was tied up to a long string by his foot. Jacob's grandma caught him so Jacob could play with him.. cute idea, but it was so sad. :( They eventually let him go.. i think.
after fan-kung fu practice. It was SUCH a hot day!
 my new skirt. loooooove it!
out to dinner with Boston and Lee at our favourite Cantonese restaurant. :)
I can't get enough of Jennies face in this picture!!
Jacob attacking me after school with my own water gun. What a stud. :)
apple vinegar drink. not too shabby, not too shabby.
These cute girls might be in ILP next year. Their so adorable!
Walking street at night. :)

thankful thursday

1. I am thankful for moments you can't buy. Last night Jennie and I were headed to the OneplusOne to get vinegar for her awful sun burn.. but we got caught up in a human traffic jam next to the living buddah. While we were waiting for people to part ways, there was a women standing in front of me, who came up to my mid chest. She hadn't seen me yet, and when she turned around I must have freaked the crap out of her! She jumped five feet, screamed a terrified scream, and her hand shot to her face in shock. hahahaha, it was the funniest thing in the whole world. It took everyone around us a bit to figure out what had just happened, but soon everyone around us was doubled over in laughter. Twill be a moment never forgotten.

...

2. I am thankful for six mangoes, Jenna's ipod, and the sun. For, that is how i spent my day today. In fact the sun has been shining all week and my skin has loved me for it. :)

...

3. I am thankful for good films. I watched Australia today and it was so good! Deathly long, but good. :)

...

4. I am thankful for my sweetheart. & I can't wait to see him!!

...

5. I am thankful I was finally able to get some prayer beads.

...

6. I am thankful for emails from my mama. She has been such an awesome support to me through everything.

...

7. I am thankful for Rainey. She tries so hard to be good at her job, and I know it can be so difficult sometimes. But she does great. :) She also is so funny, and fun to mess around with. ;)

...

8. I am thankful for water lily roots. They are so yummy, and so welcomed after sooooo much rice. :)

...

9. I am still so thankful that my roommates let me use their computers. Sooooooo nice of them. :)

...

10. I am thankful for all the girls that are coming over tomorrow to meet Jacob, and help film a video to promote Jacob's Scarves. These girls have been so supportive and nice. :)

thankful thursday

1. I am thankful for the opportunities to learn and RE-learn lessons. I don't know what I would do without God's constant belief in me.
...
2. I am thankful for emails from missionaries. I have lost contact with a lot of my dear friends since my move here, but I have been able to email a few. And their letters provide such a hope and love for me. Their letters are my personal treasure.
...
3. I am thankful for the lesson I am learning that we can choose our emotions in every situation. Sometimes I get so caught up in a moment, and a surge of anger rushes through me.. but I know that if i take a step back I will be able feel a calmness from the spirit, and choose an option that will better the situation. "Never let a problem to be solved, become more important than a person to be loved."
...
4. I am thankful for all the amenities I have that bring goodness to my life. Films, the internet, books, music, people, etc. My life has been filled  and touched by so much goodness, and each time i take the opportunity to search it out, I am never disappointed.
...
5. I am thankful for kindness. and for those who believe in it's true power.
...
6. I am thankful for the Christmas season. I know it isn't December, but I am a big believer on the Christmas spirit living within our hearts all year round. That goes for Santa lovers, and Baby Jesus lovers alike. Christmas is just too good to be only celebrated for 25 days at the end of the year. :)
...
7. I am thankful that my brothers and mother weren't in a fatal taxi wreck this weekend in NYC. Whatever the reason they weren't able to get on a flight.. I am so grateful they remained safe. I love them all so much.
...
8. I am thankful for being able to discover my purpose here in China.
...
9. I am thankful that I am learning that I don't need a tag to be a missionary. I have had the wrong mind set for so long, though with good intentions. I hope I can change that, and become a missionary for Jesus Christ in my every day living. Missionary douche style. (inside joke.) :)
...
10. I am thankful for the spirit. and its small and simple whispers.
...
& bonus?
11. I am thankful that I had to re-write this list three times now. For some unknown reason blogger, my proxy, or fate, has deleted this post three times. But it has only instilled my gratitude for each of these things even more so. :)

Rescuing Others

The spirit of Christmas.

I don't have to wait till December. :)

When I grow up

If I could be anyone in the world..

"She would never turn heads, and she wasn't what you'd call pretty, but she could be the kind of woman you would look at and think, I'd like to know her."
~Cynthia Voigt, Glass Mountain
yes, this is who I would like to be.
I want to be interesting. and, clever. I want to be worth knowing.

 A breath of fresh air.

If I could be anybody, I'd want to be strong, and clean. I would want to be powerful in speech, and peaceful in presence.

If I could be anybody, I would want to be humble, and loving. The kind that people tag as real genuinosity.

If I could be anybody, I would want to be a hard worker, a classic girl.

If I could be anybody,  I'd want to be the kind of women that you would come to for anything. I would want to sooth your fears, and give you hope.

I would want to be the women that you never hear negativity from, because she knows there is always good somewhere.

If I could be anybody, I would want to know and be proud of, my own self worth. And believe that God would help me with anything, because I'm worthy of his love.

If I could be anybody, I'd be far from the worlds definition of a perfect women, and closer to Gods definition. And I would enjoy every minute of it.

If I could be anybody, I would be the kind of women that would change the world. by simply being all that she can be.

If I could be anybody, I would be far from what I am now, and much more

honesty.

honesty.

I think this is the number one thing I care about in a relationship.

I can recall perfectly the moment when someone I really loved started pouring out family secrets to me.
secrets about my siblings, my aunts & uncles, my own mother.

I wasn't ready for this casual explosion of secrets over a light dinner of shakes and grilled cheese. But because of that experience, I learned that I want to be, and I want to marry, and I want to raise kids, that all would give their lives to be honest.

honesty.

I understand that not all the time is honesty easy. And I also understand that not everything needs to be talked about or discussed. But answers still ALWAYS need to have a firm foundation of truth.

If there isn't a trusting and honest relationship.. then is there a relationship at all?

honesty.

Honestly? I would give anything to meet a person who was always honest. I don't mind if they are necessarily always right, or even if their truths are boring... just the fact alone that they are honest, would give them outstanding humanity membership in my book.

By saying this I don't mean I love someone who "tells it how it is" because most of the time those "truths" and confessions of honesty are just pathetic. I am saying I like an honest person. In all of their dealings and such.
Someone who others can point out and say, "That is the most honest person I have ever met." "I truly trust that person."

honesty.

I wish I had spent my life being truly honest. & I wish I could say that I was even truly honest to myself. But, I am not sure if that would be true. I can say however, that I want to try harder. (and im not enjoying using the word try.)

I want to be an honest person as much as I want to know an honest person.

being let down is no bueno.

We, you and me.

This past week I was talking with Jeremy's youngest sister about graduating high school. We were conversing about the scary yet exciting changes life brings us, and I told her the best advice I had for her was to own it. To own every experience as your very own. I said that if she walked into her dorm, or onto that campus feeling like she belonged there, she would.

I think this advice applies to every part of life.

Each and every one of us, in every single situation, is important. Without us, there is nothing.

We are existence.

We are not small.

Our purposes need to be known. We need to believe with every ounce of courage we have that WE are important. That WE are the difference. In every situation.

That the phrases changing lives, changing the world, and changing the future aren't just nice thoughts..
 they are literal obtainable goals.

All it takes is a believer.

We should not sit when we wish to stand.
we should not hide ourselves behind "I can'ts" or "I'm scared."
We don't belong in our dark rooms, or our crowded minds.

We belong in the knowledge that through genuine action, hope, and faith..
anything is possible.

By this I don't mean you need to shout at the white house, or resist taking a shower until animals are treated better, or become a teacher and teach a thousand students.

by this I simply mean that you are the owner to your own life. Make the most of it, become the best you can be. Believe in who you are, and know that anything you want to do, no matter how small, can be done.

be the master of your own fate.

Where my words fail, this poem leaps boundaries. It has always been one of my all time favourites. And lately, I find it coming to mind a lot more often. Pay attention to it. Believe in it. Apply it to yourself.

and know that the author is right.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.

Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
we were all meant to shine as children, it's not just in some of us, it's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

as we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others."

Believe in yourself not just for yourself, but for everyone. For your friends, for your family, for humanity.

no more playing it safe.

overcoming fear

Saturday I woke up to rain. I was disappointed because I was really hoping to go up on my hike. I needed the fresh air, and the large spaces. Finally by noon the sky cleared enough for me to brave the potential rain, and I headed out. Adorned with my ipod stuffed in a cut-up tube sock on my arm, and my awesome orange Nike's, I hit the road and didn't stop till I reached the top.

There I let myself breath, took out the head phones, swigged some water, and sat myself down on a man made bench. The view from "my spot" is beautiful. Perhaps even more so after a morning rain. Although the air wasn't a pine tree scent like I would prefer, the freshness was good enough for me, and I began to let myself think of all the things I was burdened with.

Fear of not being smart enough to start a business.
Fear that I won't earn the money in time.
Fear that some how I won't be able to get all the scarves home.
Fear that this might all be a bigger success then I thought, and I'll be stuck with not enough scarves.
Fear that people will make fun of my awful spelling and use of too man coma's.
Fear that I will be a horrible role model, boss, friend, mother, wife, spokes person, or whatever else.
Fear that I won't make my company centered around Christ.
Fear that I will loose sight in all things.

Fear that I will let my fear get the best of me.

In my "Business Bible" I have read and re-read all the pages and stories about fear. I have collected quotes and antidotes. Yet, as much as I try to shake it, I sit here still trembling with the thoughts of doubt.

But what helps this, is what happened Saturday afternoon on top of that mountain.
I prayed for a clear mind, and a clear heart. I prayed for the understanding of what I should and must do. & for the confirmation that what I am embarking on was the right thing for me, my future family, and God's plan.

After praying I sat silently for a moment trying to be still the voices in my mind. After a truly quiet moment or two, I decided to read some scripture. I have had the goal to finish the Book of Mormon, and had been reading a chapter a day, my plan then was to read just that one chapter.. but by miracle (seriously, a miracle. i never read more then what i have to when it comes to the scriptures...) I continued on. I read the last chapter of Ether, and then the book of Moroni. (that means I finished, by the way. go me!) When I came to chapter 7, some of my fears were silenced.

"But behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, every thing which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God. "

my answer that yes, this business endeavor is inspired of God

continuing on..

"...Men began to exercise faith in Christ; and thus by faith, they did lay hold upon every good thing; and thus it was until the coming of Christ.
And after that he came men also were saved by faith in his name; and by faith, they become the sons of God. and as surely as Christ liveth he spake these words unto our fathers, saying: Whatsoever thing ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is good, in faith believing that ye shall receive, behold, it shall be done unto you."

I ask for confidence that this is my story, that this is what I should do with my life. For the faith to believe in myself.

"And again, my beloved brethren, I would speak unto you concerning hope. How is it that ye can attain unto faith, save ye shall have hope?
And what is it that ye shall hope for? Behold I say unto you that ye shall have hope through the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal, and this because of your faith in him according to the promise.
Wherefore, if a man have faith he must needs have hope; for without faith there can not be any hope.
And again, behold i say unto you that he cannot have faith and hope, save he shall be meek, and lowly of heart. "

I am given reason to have faith, to have hope, and how to obtain them.

"If so, his faith and hope is vain, for none is acceptable before God, save the meek and lowly in heart; and if a man be meek and lowly in heart, and confesses by the power of the Holy Ghost that Jesus is the Christ, he must needs have charity; for if he have not charity he is nothing; wherefore he must needs have charity."

The keys on how to be a successful leader, mother, wife, boss, friend.. Charity. Christ like love. Pure love.

"Charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
wherefore my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth."

"Wherefore my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen."

The plea to never loose sight of God. I can not do this, or anything else alone. I must have faith and trust in the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.. If I am to succeed in anything. I must grow towards him with full intent. And above all things, I must become filled with his love, purified to be like Him.

These scriptures and many more have helped me to focus my mind and heart once again on what is truly important. & the true, and only, road to success.
fear and faith can not live within the same body. I must choose one.

It's scary, it's a lot, it's life changing, and it's binding..
but it's worth it.

"You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, “I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes.”… you must do the thing you think you can not do. –Eleanor Roosevelt

Everything is unknown by definition.
