The Patio Grill

Handsome and I went to the new Patio Grill today for linner.

I was a little hesitant since i heard the Sonic which was originally there used to infested with rats...
and their special was fish & chips.
 (definitely not a seafood fan here)
BUT! we went! aaannndd, it was actually pretty darn good!

i was in the mood for a sandwich, so i ordered our waitress' favourite one,
the pastrami.

it was super simple.
rye bread.
mustard.
dill pickle.
pastrami.
and cheese.

 i guess that is all you need for a good sandwich, less is more right?

I also got some yummy onion rings, dipped in ranch of course.

not the healthiest meal.... but for sure a good one!

I'd recommend the Patio Grill..
 however,
 it's a pretty small place so come prepared to eat outside
and be ready to wait.

oh, they also have fairly good chips and salsa too :)

cupcakes!

if there is one thing about me you should know, its that I can't bake worth crap.

everything I make always ends up burned, smelling like eggs, or tasteless beyond words.
haha, but this fate has recently changed, miraculously!
& i have discovered a way to make tasteful, good looking, creative cupcakes!
[I'm slightly on the proud side, because like I said, I've NEVER been able to bake before in my LIFE. haha]

 I've been meaning to post some pictures of my recent flavours AND the recipe but due to my lack of camera, this was quite difficult.

BUT! I have my camera, and remembered to take some pictures of them tasty things yesterday.
so! here ya go friends. :)

tasty cupcakes:
{strawberry banana cheesecake}

1 Strawberry cake mix
1 box cheesecake pudding mix
3/4 Cup buttermilk
1/2 Cup Vegetable or Canola oil
4 Table spoons water
4 eggs

preheat oven to 350 degrees, and line 24 muffin cups with paper liners.
Add the cake mix, pudding mix, buttermilk, oil, and water to a large mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on low to medium speed until moistened, about 30 seconds. Add the eggs one at a time, until the batter is well-mixed. Increase speed to high and beat until think and fluffy, 2 minutes longer.

Pour or scoop the batter into the liners until they are 2/3 full. ( i like filling them a little more than that, because they go over the top and look nicer. :) ) Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Remove from oven and let them cupcakes cool.

{banana frosting}

1/2 Cup softened butter
3/4 Cup sliced banana
1 tsp. Water
2 tsp. Vanilla
3-4 Cups powdered sugar ( adjust to achieve desired consistency)

Cream butter in an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Then add in the strawberries, vanilla and water, and mix on low-speed until combined. Gradually add in the powdered sugar and mix until combined. Then beat on medium speed until light and fluffy, another 3-5 minutes.

then, once the cupcakes are cool and your frosting is mixed, scoop the frosting into a gallon sized baggy and cut off the tip of a corner.
and frost yourself to scrumptious cupcakes!

{these are the two flavours I made yesterday;
Strawberry banana cheesecake, and chocolate chip raspberry!}
