the good & the bad & the "that's so China"

the good.

we performed our break dance this last Monday. I'd show you the video if it wasn't so awful. haha ;) the floor was slippery, of course, and so we were sliding and gliding all over the place. but we did manage to take our hoodies off with our feet. & i've gotta admit, it was pretty sick looking. the good news is it's over (haha) and our principal gave us each 100 yuan for performing. I'll take that offer any day!

We had a meeting with our principal a couple days ago, and found out that we are going to have ten more little guys in our classroom starting Monday. & that I have the opportunity to teach eleven new classes starting next Tuesday! I'm really excited to have the ability to teach. A lot of head teachers don't get this chance, because our duty is to fill out paper work, and be there for the other teachers.. but if all goes well, this will remain a duty of mine. :) im excited! At the beginning of the week one of my girls was sick, so i got to teach twice for her, and i had a blast! We cut out stars and moons and talked about being tired for the first lesson, ( i had stayed up till two A.M not being able to sleep...) and for the second lesson we made little cell phones with incoming calls. The students LOVED their cell phones. SUCH a big hit! It's going to be a good month.

We also have decided where we are going for our next vacation. Which truly snuck up on us. In a week from today we will be in Yangshou, China. Spending afternoons rafting the river, mornings biking along rice fields, and evenings warming up by the hostels warm fire. I am super excited! I have missed nature so much, and this is as close to camping as i will get in a long while.

i fell asleep to an extreme rain storm last night, it was so peaceful!

the bad:

having four different girls, spend constant time together in a small classroom, lunchroom, and apartment sure does have its consequences. Especially when someone is just having an "off day". Which seems to be about every single day. It's rough. & i find myself wanting to lock myself in my room with my head phones on a lot of the time... but pushing onward and past this junk must be done. But Lord, I pray for patience because mine is running terribly thin. :/ If anyone has some clever ideas to keep us cool, i'm all ears.

p90x. i was doing sooo good. i didn't miss a day. i wasn't eating bread. & then i started eating bread and missed a day. and today is my 30 day weight in. :( hopefully i will still be able to see some sort of change, and that will motivate me enough to push onward. im seriously hoping. also, i've been put through a hoop, because our tv broke due to excessive humidity. or so were told. so i have nothing to play my dvd's. :(

my mother hasn't emailed me or talked to me even in over three weeks. someone do something about this. please. ( and mom, IF you read this, i hope you get extremely embarrassed.)

i have one hideous word for you. MOLD. & this. stuff. is. everywhere! in our dressers, on our fridge, behind the faucet in the kitchen, under the couch, on our desk's, on our clothing and suitcases... it literally has infested our entire house. We're trying to come up with ways to get rid of it, but we have yet to find any bleach.. so it's a bit of a hefty task. Also it doesn't help that it has been even-more-so humid here, and there are practically puddles of water on our floor. Oh the blissful joys of China. ;)

that's so China

We were told yesterday that we had to come up with another performance for today, and so of course Tiger took over, and we are doing Lady GaGa's Bad Romance. I'm sure i'll post pictures of this event. how could i not? Lady GaGa in China? I mean, common!

We also were asked to each bring some american food to a pot luck tonight, for Womens Day. Since none of us really brought anything from home, we racked our brains to come up with American recipes we could make without cheese and butter. ( thats right. you can not find cheese or butter ANYWHERE.) Jenna decided on mashed potatoes, Jennie's doing no bake cookies, Juliana is doing peanut butter and banana sandwiches, and I picked a pasta salad. Everyones turned out so great.. except my pasta salad. It has this odd taste of, well, i have no other word to describe it other then China. Let's just say i pray i never have to taste "China" when i go back to the states. I think it was the veggies... but hey, i did bring garlic salt, and i found some rolls, so a quick "garlic bread" will be my life savour today. wish me luck!
