i taught my first class today, and i am so excited to continue! the kids are the most adorable things in the whole world, and their accents make them ten times cuter. I just love it! & it is so much fun to spend my days and all my time singing silly songs, colouring, making crafts, reading books, and...of course napping. haha :) I'm really enjoying it all :)
i teach two different classes, a kindergarten and a level one class, which is like first grade. Both the classes are pretty small for now, but that may even make them all the better. :) Now, i know you shouldn't pick favourites, and all children are the best... but i have two little boys that i absolutely love already! haha and ironically they have the same name, Nikita.
Nikita, in my Kindergarten class is the goofy one. From the moment i met him he was playing goofy faces with me, and giggling. But, he is also super smart, and knows his English pretty well. Something peculiar about Nikita though, is he has no hair. I'm talking no arm hair, no eye lashes, and the softest little head ever. I'm not sure why this is, but it seems to make him all the more lovable for me. (Because however, he looks as if he is going through leukemia, i again felt this surge of recognition go through me when i looked at him once, that "yes. i do belong working with children in a hospital when i grow up.." thats been the third strong acknowledgement i've had about this.. and its so strange. but, i love the idea. it comforts me for some reason.) Anyway, I just can't get enough of his smile! I'm super excited to become best friends with him throughout the semester. :)
Nikita, in my level one class, is a heart throb! He has brown curly hair, and the prettiest little eyes. And because he is a transfer student from another school, he has learned british English and so has the CUTEST accent. He almost sounds italian. I can already tell he is going to be quite the character to have in class. :)
I can't wait to get into a regular teaching schedule and teach more often, these kids are going to teach me A LOT I can already tell. :)
Our school is closed down tomorrow in reverence for the SC homecoming game we are going to take victory in...oh, I mean, because the water pipes are down... haha ;) which actually turns out to be a pretty good thing, because it seems we are all getting quite sick... :( my throat is a bother, and my head teacher just downed some Nyquil. Hopefully this day of rest, and all the extra sleep will help. We sure need it.
It amazes me how quick i went from hating it here, to absolutely LOVING it.
I can't wait to see what the rest of this trip has to offer. :)
{my beautiful school} :)
