Yesterday was quite an eventful Russian day!
We woke up and did our usual thing till about ten thirty, and then headed out to meet the rest of the ILP teachers, for a day out in the town.
Katya, our coordinator surprised us with a boat trip down the Moscow river, where we were able to see lots of beautiful buildings (none of which I know the names of..yet!) green forests, and TONS of couples enjoying a day by the river banks.
(couples are one thing Moscow definitely has enough of. Everywhere you go there are people holding hands, kissing, and other romantic tactics..haha)
Eventually the cold wind and over cast skies got the better of us, and we had to call the boat trip to its end. Luckily, we stopped at, it seems, the best stop. Within a few minutes of walking we were in line to order some authentic turkey kabobs. Kabobs are like a burrito. Though they were being made right in front of me, I couldn’t tell you a thing that was inside of it. Except some sort of meat, my guess being chicken, and some cabbage? All in all though, it wasn’t too shabby. J though, I think they could have done without the white sauce..which I’m praying wasn’t Horshire sauce… haha
After eating our yummy lunch, we took a few Metro’s to the walls of the Kremlin, unfortunately Red square was closed due to some performance going on, BUT we were able to take some pictures of some Pigeons AND see a statue of the Dos Toyevsky in front of a beautiful library. By the way, Dos Toyevsky is the author of Crime and Punishment. Never read it myself, but I hear its fantastic.
Yesterday was a fairly awesome day. And it all was topped off with being able to skype with my family.
Right on. :D
Oh! And … silly me how could I forget. ;)
See this:
That would be a picture of Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty
And these would be our purchased tickets to see it, at the Kremlin, on September 18. :D
Hope all is well. I love you!
